DESERT FIBER ARTS

ABOUT DESERT FIBER ARTS GUILD

Our motto is "Each one, Teach one."

Purposes of DFA

Desert Fiber Arts was organized in 1974 as a non-profit, educational and service organization open to any interested person. Our members are drawn from about a 1-hour radius around the Tri-Cities, WA, from south central Washington and northeastern Oregon.
Our purposes are:
1) to promote participation in and appreciation for fine craftsmanship related to the fiber arts and
2) to encourage the development and interest of the craft field within the arts, in education, therapy, marketing, and the community as a whole.

Join Us for Meetings

Our members meet monthly, September through May, at locations around the Tri-Cities. All these General Meetings are open to the public. Check the calendar for dates and locations.
In June or July, we enjoy Dye in the Park, a dye session in a local park. Our August meeting is demonstrating at the Fiber Arts Booth at the Benton Franklin Fair.

Our Biannual Membership Show is exhibited at the Allied Arts Gallery in Richland, WA. Next scheduled show: January, 2009.

Study Groups
All members are encouraged to join a Study Group. These are special interest groups that focus on a particular technique or on a chosen project. Study Groups meet at their own discretion and announce their meetings in the newsletter. These are fluid groups that shift their focus or that start and finish throughout the year.

Our current study groups are:
The Great Wheels Spinning Group- meets every Tuesday evening at various spots around the Tri-Cities.
Basketry- meets three mornings and one evening each month.
The Woven Jacket Study Group- meets monthly on Saturday mornings.
Check the Calendar for dates and locations.
