Hello, Loomers on the Draw,

We are a weaving on Wednesday.  I tweaked the loom some today after hanging the pattern shafts.  Unfortunately I did not have an exciting color with me so you are seeing white on white.  I was using 16/2 cotton and recall that the warp is 22/2 cottolin.  It took twelve shots to make a square cell.  So, bring a bobbin or two of yarn you would like to try out, anything from cottolin to 20/2 cotton.

Other supplies:

  • Shuttle, a small one, and if you have a damask shuttle that is perfect
  • Scissors
  • Measuring tape or ruler
  • Wooden temple

I think it’s best if each one has their own shuttle and bobbins.  Your own temple is nice. I strongly encourage the use of a temple.  It is not fair to the next weaver after you if you have draw-in issues, which we almost always do.  If you are sharing with a friend that’s great too.  It is so easy for things to get lost especially after a few weeks of weaving with several weavers.

We will each get to weave enough to test out your yarn and then we will put our calendar together.

And away we go….thank you to all who helped prepare the loom.  I hope your joy is greater than your efforts…see you Wednesday.
