LOTS OF LAUGHTER AT THE TOWEL EXCHANGE

Mary Fraser shared a simple idea for the towel exchange at the September meeting of the 4+More Weaving Study Group. We sat in a circle. We started with our own towel and passed it three persons to the left. Then we paused to look at all the towels near us. Then another 3-person shift to look at more towels. When our own towel returned to us, then we used a random number generator (digital dice, sort of) to determine the final number of chairs to shift. It came up with number 6. And we went home with a new towel! Or placemats. Or a couple smaller towels. We are not much for following all the rules. And we love it that way. Julie wouldn’t part with her first handwoven towel but she did share an heirloom towel embellished with a lovely embroidery called huck. Some of us had floats and booboos. But it didn’t matter. We got several good ideas for towel designs. We ended the meeting by shopping in the Lois Johnson Estate Sale that filled the front room of the studio.
