The felting study group is dedicated to the art of felting in all forms; wet, needle, and nuno-felting (and their respective sub-groups), how these types are influenced by various mediums, and techniques employed while creating these forms of felt. We have a diverse group and work on individual projects as well as group projects/subjects. Everyone is welcome regardless of skill level.
The felting study group meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
Most months we try to meet on a Saturday also.

If anyone is looking for reference materials, the library has a book or two that are worth a shout out. And a thank you to our Librarian Cheryl Kierulf.  The Complete Photo Guide to FELTING by Ruth Lane has very good information and is fairly complete on techniques.  For those who are visual learners, well, it is a photo guide! It even has info on the types of wool that are best suited to different types of felting projects.  The Fleece and Fiber Sourcebook by Deborah Robson & Carol Ekarius is a good source for details on sheep breeds and their pros and cons.  The gals who wrote this book have a definite sense of humor. I use this book religiously; it is great for researching an appropriate type of wool to produce a certain outcome.

Cheryl Reed sent some info to me on a felter a little while ago and then Kathy Myers and Lois Anderson sent me some info on the same gal a few weeks back. (Thank you ladies) Some of her projects are kind of “out there”, some are more mainstream.  But her website, Strongfelt (Lisa Klakulak)  https://strongfelt.com is very interesting and informative.  She talks about working with wool, prefelt and various topics you might be interested in and does online classes as well as in person.  Her photos show her journey. Let me know what you think.

Hope to see you soon.
